Permission implementation
ACCESS CONTROL | AUTHORIZATION MANAGEMENT FOR SAP®
You can translate text blocks in permission roles individually using the SE63 transaction. If you need to translate many roles, there are also automation options that we present here. There are several scenarios in which it becomes interesting to translate the texts of permission roles, for example, if your company is acting internationally. Also, you may have taken over a third party company and the SAP systems used there, or you may want to simplify the SAP system landscape by combining different divisions in one system. In all of these cases, you must standardise or translate the texts of the authorisation roles. For pure translation, you can use the transaction SE63, which we explain in the first section of this tip. In general, however, you will need to translate a large number of role texts in these scenarios; Therefore, in the second section we will explain how you can automate the translation using the LSMW (Legacy System Migration Workbench) transaction and will discuss how to set up a custom ABAP programme.

Finally, we want to give you some recommendations for securing file access. The SPTH table allows you to protect the file system from ABAP programme accesses without granting permissions and to deliberately define exceptions. The problem is identifying the necessary exceptions. However, because the SPTH check is always performed together with the S_DATASET object check, you can use a long-running permission trace to find the paths that are used with filters for the S_DATASET authorization object. The procedure for this is described in detail in our Tip 39, "Maintain suggestion values by using trace evaluations". If you are using applications that access files in the DIR_HOME directory without a path, such as the ST11 transaction, you must specify access to the allowed file groups individually (e.g. dev_, gw_), because there is no wild card for DIR_HOME.

The Enable Transport Recording button allows you to save the changes in the roles on a transport order. For information on the validity of the PFCG_ORGFIELD_ROLES report, see SAP Note 1624104.

If you have an older SAP NetWeaver release than 7.00 installed, only two possible values for the customising switch BNAME_RESTRICT are available after the implementation of SAP Note 1731549. The switch is NO, and you can switch it to ALL, so that the switch takes on the same functionality as in the higher releases.

For the assignment of existing roles, regular authorization workflows require a certain minimum of turnaround time, and not every approver is available at every go-live. With "Shortcut for SAP systems" you have options to assign urgently needed authorizations anyway and to additionally secure your go-live.

You should archive all document types at the same time intervals; This is especially true for the US_USER and US_PASS archive objects.

This will search for all parameter transactions that use the SE16 transaction.
