Critical business processes require a secure, efficient and stable operation of an SAP system landscape. High demands on the management as well as the operation of the underlying SAP NetWeaver platform require competent support in all tasks of planning, support and updating of the SAP Basis. The increase in installed components as well as systems integrated via interfaces expands these needs. Only with professional care and maintenance of its components can SAP NetWeaver bring its advantages as an integrative platform to bear.
In order to ensure the necessary expertise both in the direction of application and application-related IT departments as well as in the direction of infrastructure units, the SAP basis should be divided into an infrastructure-related SAP basis and an application-orientated SAP basis. The infrastructure-based SAP basis acts as a contact level and point of contact for IT departments such as virtualisation, storage management and databases. The application-orientated SAP basis serves as the contact and coordination level for application-related topics. BUILDING OVERARCHING EXPERT TEAMS WITH SAP basis INVOLVEMENT To reduce organisational friction points as well as to optimally handle selected topics, it is recommended to set up expert teams with the participation of the SAP basis. These teams of experts can be virtually organised and therefore of temporary duration and consist of participants from all relevant IT disciplines or business areas. If the topic of the virtual group of experts is the focus of the SAP basis, the SAP basis will take over the management and control of the expert team.
Controlling users and access rights
If you need to reinstall a Support Package because of errors or because a SPAM update is required, reset its status. Resetting does not mean that the system is at an old state. Note that your system is inconsistent when you reset the status after items have already been imported (for example, after the DDIC_IMPORT step and following). Resetting the status should only be used to troubleshoot the issue and you should repeat the playback as soon as possible. Procedure To reset the status of a Support Package or Queue, select Add Status Reset. Result After updating the status, the corresponding entries in the cofile and in the log file are deleted. The support package must then be fully reloaded. The transaction SPAM starts the insertion with the step CHECK_REQUIREMENTS [page 26].
