Software installation
The application layer is the central component of the SAP R/3 system. This layer is therefore also referred to by SAP as the actual basis system. Within the layer there are application servers and a message server.
Ten years ago, SAP HANA was little more than a promise that made SAP CEO Hasso Plattner's eyes light up. It's hard to imagine that all SAP customers will have completely replaced their Oracle and Microsoft databases in just ten years.
SAP Screen Personas
As a member of the SAP Basis specialist team, your responsibilities will include the design, operation, administration, support and installation of an extensive SAP system landscape with over 50 systems for 17 universities and 2 institutions in Lower Saxony. Furthermore, you will monitor the SAP system landscape as well as its interfaces to external systems and carry out measures within the scope of software lifecycle management (e.g. note maintenance, support stacks, release upgrades) and change management (e.g. hardware migration, transport system and documentation). As part of the SAP Basis team, you will be the contact person for organizational and technical questions of the universities and in 3rd-level support for user inquiries.
The SAP Basis team handles the entire administration of an SAP system. As a company, you have to decide whether you want to leave the support of your system within your company or place the "Basis" in the hands of an SAP expert.
"Shortcut for SAP Systems" is a PC application that simplifies or even facilitates many activities in the SAP base.
Log in with the following user: Operating system users UNIX adm AS/400 OFR Windows NT adm Go to the following subdirectory in your system: Operating system UNIX and AS/400 usr/sap/trans/tmp Windows NT :\usr\sap\TRANS\TMP Unzip the archive containing the support packages with the following command: Operating system command UNIX CAR -xvf ///_CAR AS/400 CAR '-xvf /QOPT///_CAR' Windows NT CAR -xvf :\\ CHIVE>.CAR Put the unpacked support packages in the EPS inbox of your transport directory: Operating system EPS-Inbox of the transport directory UNIX /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in AS/400 /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in Windows NT :\usr\sap\trans\EPS\in Now bring the support packages into your system with Support Package Upload.
UPL is able to record the call and execution of the following ABAP objects: Reports Functional Blocks Classes Methods Subroutines SQL Calls In addition, UPL is able to detect dynamic programme calls and generate transparency about the modifications used.
